ASI was founded in 1986 by Roy Downham, formerly President and founder of [MEG] TEC Systems. Mr. Downham and a cadre of key engineers and fabricators soon initiated a business plan that focused on the development of high efficiency and high durability dryers for the graphic arts, converting and paper industries. The company's customer base developed quickly, and soon ASI outgrew the original building.In 1989, ASI moved to its current manufacturing facility located on the east side of Green Bay, Wisconsin. ASI's 65, 000 square foot manufacturing facility integrates full-function metal fabrication, welding, electrical, controls, painting and system testing shops as well as the engineering, field service and sales groups.ASI has continued to be a leader in heat transfer mechanics, flotation drying, IR/hot air integration, web handling, and air turn technology. Innovative and practical designs have resulted in 22 patents, 24 air bar designs and more than 600 industrial dryers and air handling units.The company specializes in custom designed dryers for some of the most exacting product requirements including applications in photographic films, pressure sensitive adhesives, reverse osmosis filter media, flexible packaging and "clean room" drying processes for the food and health industries. By producing the most durable dryers with the highest heat transfer coefficient, ASI designs result in shorter dryer length, lower energy cost, and lower maintenance cost.While technology leadership as always been a mainstay, our CEO and majority owner Lewis Krueger, has also implemented modern business practices to ensure that teamwork, flexibility, customer "partnering", and strategic work practices will maintain ASI as the most responsive and cost-competitive company in the industries we serve.Thus, the key reason for ASI's success is the ability to blend the most advanced drying technologies with process expertise that is innovative, practical and customer-centered.
