1.1 Company overviewWellnessbanabas Company Limited ("the Company" hereinafter) was founded by Kim, Chol-Hoe, who now serves as the head of the Company, in March, 2005. The Company specializes in producing and selling health function supplemental food mainly made of banaba leaf extracts. The health supplemental food, which are quite popular both in Korea and abroad, have been proved effective excellently for treating diabetes and helping the obese control their body weight. The Company, thus, plans to expand its production facilities in order to meet the rapidly increasing demands for its products.1.2 Business descriptionAfter a long series of clinical trials and tests, the health supplemental food produced and sold by the Company were given certificates certifying the efficacy in diabetes and obesity from the Korean Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) in December, 2005. There have been articles in prominent journals of Japan and the United States, including Science published by the American Association for Advancement in Science (AAAS), which describe the medical effects of banaba leaf extracts. The Company's products help many people who suffer from diabetes and obesity, and, consequently, is receiving purchase orders in both domestic and abroad.1.3 Characteristics of the productThe main ingredient of the health supplemental food of the Company is liquid extracted from natural banaba leaves. The Banaba leaves contain a unique ingredient that prevents certain nutrients from being destroyed by high heat. It is ingredient that give excellently efficiency in diabetes and obesity. In the Philippines, it is used as a tea to treat diabetes in hospitals. Additionally, The Banaba is designated as a medical plant. Recently, in Japan "Banaba" has been selling widely for precaution of diabetes and for controlling overweight.
