Xi Lan Ka Pu is the native language,Xi Lan is the name of person and Ka Pu is the cloth she weavs.It’s said that Xi Lan is one of the most inteligent and beautiful girl in Tujia cottage,she embroidered all kinds of flowers of mountains,but she has never seen Gingko which blossom and also fall at the middle of night. In order to embroider Gingko flower,she climbed up to the tall Gingko tree alone at the middlle of the night to talk with the Gingko flowers ,but unexpectedly, she was found by her brother’s bad wife, his brother believed wife’s rumor and cut off the Gingko tree wih axes, so Xi Lan fell down and died,but her embroidered art has been passed down by the TuJia people.Xi Lan Ka Pu use red ,blue,black,white,yellow,purple silk thread as their Latitude and longitude, they used hands to weave it before,but machine now. they are mainly used for bedspreads,curtains,wallpaper,carpet,pillow and also can be use for decoration of the house. The color contrast is intense ,with the simple design and rich exaggeration,and mixing the practical and abstract to make it more lively. Tujia embroidery is unique ,it is beautiful in apearance and rich in content,experts said it is sufficient to compare with Xiangxiu called the mother of famous art.
