Thomac essential oils (three of which are unique to the world: Southern Immortelle oil, African Bluegrass oil, Purple Sage oil) are steam distilled from wild crafted indigenous plants growing in the mountainous region of the eastern escarpment in the Limpopo Province, situated in the Northern regions of the Republic of South Africa. Thomac also produces Frankincense oils from gums imported from Somaliland.
The still is situated on a rural farm and the water used in the distillation process is drawn from a natural spring rising in an indigenous forest.
The plants are harvested from the property and its surrounds.
Agriculture in the area is limited to forestry and as a result no airborne pesticides are used.
The property is situated some distance from any built-up areas and the environment is thus relatively pollution free.
The boiler used to generate the steam, is fired using alien vegetation i.e. Eucalyptus and Black Wattle, both of which are declared weeds infesting the area.
All products are derived from plant material harvested in the wild and as a result must be taken to be organic.
