ProBionic was formed in 2000 as an independent corporation by the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB) to promote the commercialization of institute inventions through licensing of technology. The company is a National Research Laboratory (NRL) on molecular microbial ecosystems authorized by the Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST) of the Korean Government. ProBionic is dedicated to becoming a global leader in the research and development of biotechnologies designed to discover and apply new microorganisms and genes from diverse environmental sources including animals, plants, insects and soils. Utilizing its fully integrated approach, proBionic develops novel micro-organisms and biologically active compounds, such as host specific-new functional probiotics and small biomolecules.
