Our company quarries a perlite resource in the central North Island, with an estimated extractable volume of over 10,000,000m3. We mine the ore from this resource and primary process at our Atiamuri quarry, from where the graded perlite is transported to our Auckland factory.
At this location, we dry, crush and screen approximately 10,000mt of perlite ore per annum.
A large proportion of this production is exported into the foundry, cryogenics, pipe insulation and filtration markets in Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, India, South Africa, Vietnam, India, China & Australia. We also operate an expansion plant to produce expanded perlite product for the domestic horticultural, construction, and cryogenic markets in New Zealand.
We operate a pumice and sand quarry, Atiamuri Sand & Pumice, from which we extract and process 60,000m3 of aggregate per annum for local and export markets.
We import and distribute vermiculite and perlite filter aid from our sister company in Australia, Australian Perlite Pty Ltd, as well as trading in resin coated sands and other specialty minerals.
