Artisanal gold mining activities has been going on at ShendaVillage for almost three decades. In addition to artisanal mining activities ongoing in the licencearea, several companies have also carried out exploration work under joint venture agreements with Capri. Thecompanies are Anglogold which explored the area in September, 1998, Barrick Exploration AfricaLimited in November, 2002.
