Furniturehaveli was founded by Sonica Arya, an architect by profession with a flair for design. Her entry into the export furniture area was inspired by the demand for Indian handcrafted furniture at reasonable prices.
She melts the old colonial era furniture and artifacts into the Indian material and culture. The warmth of teakwood and other fine local timber like Sheesham is brought out in a most unusual way with the combination of wrought iron, old textile printing blocks, tiles, glass and silver.
Her year 2001 export range combines these materials to produce a variety of coffee tables, decorative chests, consoles, wine racks, bedside units and silver/wood frames.
All her furniture is 100% handcrafted by highly qualified carpenters and specialized craftsmen using techniques, tools and skills acquired over the generations. With her strong commitment to quality nothing leaves her workshop, without having been thoroughly inspected personally by her.
