Cloisonne, also called 'copper-body and wire-inland enamel', has a long-standing history of several hundred years. It was very popular as far back as in the years of the reign of emperor chingtai of the ming dynasty (1450-1456 a. D. ). As the technique was already well developed, plus the fact that enamel was chiefly used, it was termed in Chinese 'chingtai blue'.
