The 8th institute of China Electronics Technology Group Company(the 8th Institute is called in the following for short ),also called Anhui Optical Fiber and Cable Transmission Techology Institute to the external ,was established in 1970. The 8th institute is a specialized institute engaging in optical fiber and cable transmission technology, also is the first unit engaging in the research , popularization and application of optical fiber and cable transmission technology. Since the establishment the institute has totally completed nearly 200 items of scientific research trial production projects, among them more than 100 items won the scientific and technological achievements of national ,provincial and ministerial grade .Nearly600,000 fiber kilometers of optical fiber, and nearly 500 units sets of optical cable special equipments have been provided for the customers at home and abroad .The 8th Institute has made an important contribution to the foundation and development of Chinese optical communication cause.
