Amid the surging reforms and opening-up drive in China, Ningbo, a famous port in old China and one of the " Five Trading Ports" in contemporary China, has become an open coastal city with the same rights as a province in economic planning and management. Against this backdrop, China Export Base Development Ningbo Corporation was founded in 1985 with approval from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.
In 1999, in response to a new round of reform and opening-up, China-Base formed an alliance with Youngor Group, an established and listed Chinese enterprise. As a result, China-Base has emerged as a company, which covers many industries, operates in many regions and has many shareholders. As Vice Premier Wu Yi pointed out at a national working conference on Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, "China-Base is a model in the reform of Chinese foreign trade enterprises."
