  • Company Introduction

Birds of Africa has been handcrafting wooden birds, with beautifully carved and painted detail, since 1980.
Wood for our crafted birds in sourced from locally planted forests, and yellowwood and blackwood from our renowned indiginous forests (naturally felled) . This indicates our commitment to nature conservation.
Each bird is individualistically unique as each one is crafted by a different combination of craftsmen and enhanced by its own inherently unique wood grain.
Most items are given an authenticity number for the bird type and becomes part of limited edition ranges, In this way each range of birds also changes in detail over time to generate new limited editions.
The Classic Collection portrays each bird variety as close to a realistic representation as possible. The Decoy Collection is a selection of Ducks. The Contemporary Collection was released in April 2007 and are larger and more of a decor item. The Home Collection was launched in October 2007 and includes functional items made from yellowwood and blackwood while maintaining the bird theme.
