In 1968 Base oil refinery with the production capacity of 30000 ton per year commissioned.
Throughout the years, number of different expansion and modification projects improved the quality as well as quantity of base oil production to more than 220000 ton per year.
Apart from Tehran base oil refinery and blending plant, other production facilities in south of Iran produces furfural solvent by hydrolysis of sugar cane bagasse, which is used in base oil refineries.
