In order to complete the supply chain, Arvind has forayed into organic & fair trade cotton production through contract farming model in Akola district, Maharashtra State, India with a vision ?o promote a vibrant rural economy that is driven by the sustainable growth of Agriculture?and Mission ?o encourage a transition from conventional fibre cultivation to an organic farming system by extending support and co-ordinating the dissemination of knowledge in a socially fair manner, which will promote the rural economy and create a healthy ecosystem? The Project Objective:?o improve farm productivity and farmer income?o develop and promote business models that are environmentally sustainable?o enhance biodiversity of the rural landscape?o develop a lasting social infrastructure and support system in the regionThe core concept underlying Arvind? strategy for promoting Fair trade for the overall development of organic farmers of Akola district in Maharashtra State of India is through better production and marketing by way of forming and strengthening community based organizations and people? institutions. These institutions and organizations are being trained and facilitated to adopt environment friendly production technologies and fair trade marketing practices. The project is constantly evolving marketing strategies for rotational crops such as vegetables, cereals, pulses, oilseeds, and spices & condiments. The project has initiated an activity of processing vegetables using Individual Quick freezing technology (IQF).
