Tigar Corporation's history began back in 1935, when a small workshop for the production of rubber footwear was set up. Today, Tigar is a major rubber products conglomerate in the Balkans. The corporation operates three manufacturing and a number of service companies. Tigar Trade is the corporation's largest commercial subsidiary and is responsible for domestic andinternational product placement.
Safety footwear is its premium export item.The safety footwear product line was introduced
in 1989, when Tigar established a working relationship with several Swedish partners and began manufacturing footwear for the Scandinavian market. Tigar obtained its initial ISO 9001 certification in December of 1995, and its ISO 140001 environmental management certification in 2003. With the launching of its new rubber footwear factory at the end of 2008, which has a production capacity of f 3.5 million pairs of footwear per year and is the largest state-of-the-art factory of its kind in Europe, Tigar continues to successfully develop new, highly-sophisticated products and introduce advanced technologies which will support our further expansion in the marketplace.
With a 70% market share, Tigar is the absolute leader in Serbia's rubber footwear market. In the European Union, its presence has grown to 5% and the company is now in the process of entering the Canadian and Russian markets.
With the acquisition of Century brand safety footwear production and distribution rights from Britain's Hunter Boot Limited, Tigar is poised to join top global manufacturers in this segment. Footwear known to consumers world-wide is now being manufactured in Serbia. We develop and refine our proprietary brands and, in parallel, acquire high-quality and well-poised international
brands to gain better access to global markets.
