Non-Ferrous Metal Works Group was founded in 1947 and is still a family business. A family which has grown to over 500 co-workers imbued with a spirit of loyalty and commitment to each other, the company and our customers. Our employees come from all corners of the globe since it is company policy to try and obtain the best people and technology from whatever source and thereafter maintain a position of leadership by constant personal contact with both competition and technical institutions world-wide.
Most important, however, we have an exceptionally loyal and skilled workforce, the majority of whom have been with the company over 10 and a very high proportion over 20 years and more. It is the expertise and pride in their work which has assured the rapid growth of our Group and the ever increasing demand, especially for our Extruded Brass and Continuous Cast Bronzes world-wide.
Besides two manufacturing facilities and six distribution outlets in Southern Africa, the Group has associates and strong ties with companies in all five continents and a customer network over 30 countries.
PRODUCTION UNITS
Foundry: With humble beginnings as a lead smelter the NFM Foundry has developed into a world class casting facility with a number of Induction Furnaces of the continuous cast type.
NFM have the capability of casting a great number of alloys in a number of billet diameters and under the ISO 9001:2008 quality mark ensuring our customers of the best quality at a competitive price. Our smelters have many years of non-ferrous casting experience and would be happy to discuss requirements as well as capabilities in order to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Extrusion :
Situated in Prospection - Durban - KwaZulu Natal, the NFM Extrusion Division was established in 1966 and today is one of the largest extruders of copper and brass alloys in South Africa, as well as one of the largest wrought copper, brass and bronze manufacturers in South Africa and is ideally situated within easy access to Port as well as road transport routes. With a number of extrusion presses of the direct as well as indirect type, NFM are in a position to extrude a variety of copper and brass alloys into many shapes and sizes. A good compliment of automated Schumag draw benches, as well as conventional draw benches, allows NFM to supply wrought copper, brass and bronze alloys in a variety of shapes, sizes and tempers.
NFM Production facilities are ISO9001:2008 accredited and all of the copper, brass and bronze alloys are fully certified to international standards, as well as to specific customer needs. The R&D Department is constantly working on innovative ideas to maximise the product range with the aim of being a one-stop wholesaler.
Copper, brass and bronze alloys are the core business and the emphasis on quality and conformity are one of the many services NFM are happy to pass on to the customer.
Component Manufacture : NFM has a fully equipped Toolroom with qualified artisans as well as CAD/CAM facilities and CNC machines to assist with the completion of any turnkey project requirements. As the primary manufacturer of non-ferrous alloys NFM are in the position of being able to cut costs and offer the best solution with the highest quality and delivery service.
