Our company, directly under the formal Ministry of Chemical Industry of China, is a comprehensive research unit majoring in the development of new chemical materials and raw materials of chemical propellants. We were founded in 1965 and composed of some departments which had been parts of Beijing, Tianjin, Shenyang and Shanghai research institute of chemical industry, directly under the Ministry of Chemical Industry of China. In 1999, we have changed to the science and technology enterprise according to the demand of the State Council, and now are subordinate to New Chemical Materials Corporation of China. At present, we cover an area of 170,000 square meters and building area of 90,000 square meters with total value of assets of over 200 million RMB and over 900 staffs, of which, has 469 scientific research personnel including 1 member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 10 professors senior engineers, 98 senior engineers, 196 engineers. In the institute, there are the research departments of inorganic chemicals, inorganic chemicals, polymers, fine chemicals, physico-chemical analysis and test, environmental protection, books information, standardization, and the design and development department etc. The National Engineering Research Center of Reaction Injection Molding (RIM), The Information Center of Raw Materials of Chemical Propellants and The National Defense Inspection Center of Special Chemical Materials is set up here. We are also The National Director Unit of PU Association and The National Defense Military Standardization Unit of Special Chemical Product. In 1993, we became one of the first 100 research institutes whom were granted the rights to handle import and export business by the Central Government. In 1996, we were appointed to be one of 5 important research institutes by Ministry of Chemical Industry of China.
In the more than 30 years, we have finished more than 300 scientific tasks including 230 identified scientific achievements through continuous research and development. In total, we have obtained 3 National Invention Prizes, 12 National Science and Technology Progress Prizes and 86 Provincial or Ministry Science Prizes. Among them, new anthraquinone process for hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) production has reached world advanced level.
In the research and development field of new PU materials, we have a series of advanced production technology about raw materials, auxiliary agents, products and blends etc., which have been widely applied to the production of automobiles, refrigerators, furniture, family appliance, building material, oil field, mine, textile, aviation and railway transportation etc., and hold a leading position in field of new PU materials in China.
In the research and development field of fine chemicals, tens of products, such as the new solid PU adhesive, the sealant for buildings, the compounds for electrical instruments, water adhesive, the fast curing unsaturated polyester putty and the high effective synergist for pesticides, rank first among similar products in China.
In the research and development field of chemical propellants, we have developed kinds of raw materials for solid and liquid chemical propellants according to the requirements of the national aviation and space flight development, and have made great contributions to the development of the chemical industry for national defense.
