    As the usage of ferrosilicon is utmost in industry in comparison to the other ferroalloys, Iran ferroalloy industry has been established in 1986 as a raw materials supplier for steel & foundry industries.
    The executive process of plant started in 1990 and finished in 1994. The plant is located in 53 hectare in Azna, Lorestan province based on following important reasons:
    Existing silicon mine in Lorestan, as raw materials.
    Near to regions of steel production
    Establishment of industries in poor regions
    The capacity of furnace in phase 1 is 25000 MT of ferrosilicon which produce 7000 MT Microsilica as a by product.
    IFI is a leading exporter & importer of Fesi & Microsilica in Iran now.
    At the present, Expansion project of IFI is finalizing to increase production capacity and producing Silicon Metal by installing 2 furnaces of which respective parts and machineries have been purchase in 1996 from Germany. By turn key the expansion project the capacity of FeSi & Microsilica will reach to 45000 & 15000 MT annually. One of the furnaces will specialize to produce Silicon Metal which is using in chemical & metallurgical industries.
