Africa Oil Works Lda. was extablished in 2007 as a community-interest company, creating jobs and adding value to local coconut resources. We are intentionally partnered with local HIV / AIDS programs to assist orphans and people living with AIDS.
Virgin Coconut Oil-The DME system we use was designed to take the factory to the coconuts and not the coconuts to the factory. We desire to develop more units to bring income and assistance to the impoverished coconut growing areas of Mozambique. Traditionally, local farmers are paid less than 12 US cents per KG for dried copra (coconut) yielding less than 1. 5 cents per nut after all their hard labor. We pay the fresh wholesale price of 3-6 cents per nut depending on the seasonal price and nut size, thus allowing the local tree owners (many of whom are women and some orphans) to receive higher prices with much less personal work. The end product is high quality, certified organic, fresh, unrefined oil with many health qualities that do not exist in refined oils.
