    For a hundred years, Pellegrino family has produced extra virgin olive oil aiming at the product quality.
    Pellegrino extra virgin olive oils are the result of the patient work of man and nature together: a perfect synergic work producing an extra virgin olive oil absolutely balanced in its features.
    La Spineta is the name of the olive farm where the olives are grown and pressed and where the oil is then bottled.
    The frantoio (olive mill) and the bottling facilities are situated in the old masseria that was the centre of the about 140 hectares latifondo (a huge tract of farmland) called La Spineta, which was owned by the prince Pallavicini. An ancient Roman road, Via Appia, crossed the entire latifondo and trace of it can be seen on La Spineta. The oldest part of the masseria was built in 1544, where the office is now; while the newest part, a building originally constructed in 1937 to be used as a warehouse, houses of the frantoio. Although the Pellegrino family has been involved in the production of high quality olive oil for 4 generations, it is just recently that we have begun bottling our olive oil.
    At La Spineta we produce only extra virgin olive and we follow an old town saying: Il buon olio parte dalla pianta, good olive oil starts from the tree. In order to do this we try to find a good balance between old traditions and new knowledge. The tradition is carried on by the workers who take care of the trees, as they have done this job for generations. The head worker, for example, knows the 23. 000 olive trees at La Spineta individually.
    The new scientific knowledge is contributed by a team of specialist who check during the year the production and care of olive trees. Their involvement makes it possible to guarantee that our product is not only of the highest quality from the standpoint of flavour, but also free of any chemical residue from pesticide or any other product used in agriculture. AIAB certifications have been made on this purpose for NOP organic products.
    Further more, we have received a High Level Standard BRC and IFS certifications.
