Speaking within the confines of Servant Leadership style of government,Mr Mursal Mohammed,an aspiring candidate for Wajir governorship,highlighted poverty,illiteracy, absence of quality health care, infrastructural deprivation and divergent interests of fragmented political elders and consistent pillage of townships as a major aspect that has burrowed deep into the development agenda of Wajir county.
Advocating for a roadmap for county master plan,he requested that all county governments once put in place in North Eastern region to work closely so as to undertake to overhaul major infrastructural works and put tarmacked roads in the entire enclave.
“Wajir is blessed with abundant indigeneous human resources but gropes haplessly in search of income generation?” lamented Mr Mursal.Expressing concern over the grabbed jobs at Wajir International airport,Mursal Ali,insisted therefore that his county shall give appropriate & priority jobs to the many residents of Wajir who are young graduates to occupy the plum jobs at such pivot facilities.
“This way, Wajir shall have a loyal local committed and working citizenry engaging to a large extent in building of their county instead of letting outsiders do it on their behalf” occassione Mursal Mohammed Ali..He is confident that he is the governor-in-waiting standing with the Kenya National Congress party ticket.He says”Wajir is in need of leadership change that is fresh and selfmade,not people fronted by wazees,who are recycled every now and then.”
In stepping up to getting better dividends of which education and democracy can provide for Wajir county,the gubernatorial aspirant promises the 0.7 million people living in Wajir(according to the latest census), both increased accountability for the county government and the setting up of a new university(islamic & secular curricula) for the locals(as the best vehicle to reduce the poverty index at 84% is good schools/colleges).
He pledges support for the people in their efforts to switch from the risky normadic life to a more diversified livelihood with disciplined economic justice, environmental security and social equality.Will therefore construct factories for gumarabic,resins,dogmeals from the animal bones,for producing white wash,coral stone and for making shoes.
With a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) less than half of each of the other counties enjoy,Mursal insists that what plagues the county is not so much the unavailability of natural resources but underdevelopment spurred by constant civil unrest which characterises the present day Wajir.
The sad reality about the present leadership situation is that elders appoint lethargic leaders deprived of ideas which has created various social monsters in terms of groups unleashing death and destruction in the county as a result of bottled up frustrations from sidelined quarters and the need to vituperate. Unfortunately instead of toeing the lines of using volatile languages and engage in violence there are several peaceful nonviolent alternatives. Even the targeted rich are virtually unscathed save the few unfortunate ones. On the long run, the poor are at the receiving end of poverty, deprivation and violent deaths.
Mursal position cannot be wished off on a platter of perceived struggle of primacy between Wajir residents and outsiders, but a sad reflection of people revolting based on glaring reality of thieving outside elites who have created empires out of the resources of dying majority of Wajir people. The vicious trend of pillage has therefore left the poor with nothing else to eat but the rich.

Wajir must draw lessons from other areas in the country, as earlier mentioned, the problem that Wajir battles presently is the practise where every small clan cleavage tends to hold on to its resources and political primacy, making it impossible for other parts of the county to want to subordinate and relegate to socio-political and economic obscurity other ‘resource incapacitated’ areas in the county.
The governor will adequately intimate the potency of SMEs in turning the economic fortunes of the county around.As much as there is wide chasms between livestock economy to Smes,he believes he will still continue with proper structure for husbandry by providing mobile vertinary clinics.
Will institute an informed SMEs sector that accounts for 99 % of companies, employing up to 79.4 % of labour serving as a good model for leveraging on economic, social and political greatness, translating to stable national unity for a better Wajir.

The Wajir aspiring Governor has indeed has so much to offer from his fountain of experience especially as a holder of MBA fromUSIU( Strategic Studies and Political Economy),businessman at the apex of his career and a Servant Leader for over five years, he is indeed an authority and his experience will help greatly in fashioning best practice in the management of the county affairs.
Propounding further on the issue of a viable roadmap for Wajir,Mursal has envisioned the need of the residents to participate in major mega infrastructure by selling shares in irrigation schemes to co-ops,gropus,clans and individual companies in the area in the area of physical application of security, the Chief Servant queried the poor data collection culture in Nigeria. He stated that the absence of data makes it difficult for comprehensive plans in having the best compliment of police and other security agencies supposed to be proportionate to the number of people in the country.
