Applied Art was founded in Laos in 1997 by a group of Danish people, who were working in Vietnam for different companies for some years.
In 1997 we decided it was time to look around for other places than Vietnam to get furniture produced. We found Laos very interesting; there was a lot of wood and many possibilities.
Since we started our furniture factory we have gone a long way, from only exporting one container per month, we are now producing 4-6 forty foot container per month depending on designs and difference in items produced at the same time.
The factory is mainly producing garden furniture for export to the European and Australia market, but we are also doing a few other things like * tables, handy crafts, timber etc.
We are mainly working with hardwoods like Balau, keruing, and teak. We have access to many difference species of wood known and unknown.
At present we are working on a FSC project and reckon we will be able to produce furniture with FSC certification in 1- 1 year. Until then a Chain of Custody(CoC)is available.
All our furniture's are produced on machinery that is imported from Denmark.
Applied Art is a 100% foreign owned company that is holding its own import/export license and production license.
We are exporting out of Bangkok.
We are employing around 180 workers. For our technical support we have a Vietnamese team and European technician that all speak English.
